About Us
In October 2005 a small group of Harley owners from the DelMarVa area
contacted Benet McCormick of Harley-Davidson of Ocean City, Maryland and
expressed their interest in forming a local HOG Chapter. This idea was met
with great enthusiasm from McCormick and the wheels were set in motion.
On Monday, January 2, 2006 the first Board of Directors Meeting was held at Harley-Davidson of Ocean City, Maryland. At that executive meeting the officers were affirmed and general business related to the structure, organization and goals of the chapter was discussed.
On Thursday, January 5, 2006 the first General Membership Meeting was held at Harley-Davidson of Ocean City, Maryland. There was an overwhelming presence of individuals that became members that evening. It could better be described as standing room only, all the chairs and tables were occupied.
During this meeting we had the privilege of having C.B. "Spuck" Bennett in attendance along with other members of his family. Spuck is the founding father of Ocean City Harley-Davidson, Maryland; Seaford Harley-Davidson, Delaware and Harley-Davidson Shop of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
Membership for Charter Members would remain open until the end of the General Membership meeting held on Thursday, April 6, 2006. At the close of business our membership rolls consisted of 285 members that shall be considered Charter Members.
The membership continues to grow as the friendships continue to build. Our leaders continue to focus on guiding the chapter and building a strong membership that works as a team.
